Why we made it

As rugby spread across the world through the Royal Navy and other British institutions, the game was often played far from purpose-built grounds and modern sporting facilities. Early teams made do with what they had. Uniforms were simple, resources were limited, and players regularly relied on improvised patches, markings, and identifiers to distinguish one side from another.

The raw-edge cotton twill appliqué on the back of this jersey draws inspiration from that spirit of practical ingenuity. Not decoration for decoration’s sake, but a functional solution executed with character. Built from simple materials, worn hard, and made to last.
